What this means
For organisations

Become a partner

Companies, schools, clubs, foundations and congregations can help carry the campus project: through donations, contributions in kind, a joint campaign or a long-term project partnership. The partnerships page sets out what suits which kind of organisation.

Membership

Becoming a member: what it means

Membership is more than a standing donation. It makes you part of the association, with a vote at the general meeting. What applies here is set out in the statutes, not left to our discretion.

Any natural or legal person can become a member, including a company or a parish. The application is made in writing and the board decides on admission. If an application is rejected, the rejection must be justified, and the person concerned can appeal to the general meeting, which then decides finally.

There is no compulsory membership fee. The statutes explicitly provide for no fixed contributions; voluntary contributions and donations are possible. So you decide yourself whether and how much you give regularly.

The general meeting is held at least once a year. Invitations go out at least two weeks in advance in text form, with an agenda. It elects the board and formally discharges it, decides on changes to the statutes and on dissolving the association. Minutes are kept of every meeting.

You can leave at any time by written notice to the board. No minimum term, no notice period.

If you would like to become a member, send us an email and we will send you the next steps.

Volunteering

Where we need help

"Volunteering" often sounds like a commitment you only take on once you have plenty of time. With us it is more concrete and smaller. A few examples so you can judge whether something fits:

Translation. This site exists in German, English and French, and Togo is francophone. Every new article and report has to exist in three languages. Anyone who writes confident French helps us immediately.

Preparing text and images. Photos and notes from a trip do not turn into a publishable article by themselves.

Administration and bookkeeping. A young association has a lot of paperwork and little routine. Anyone who knows this professionally saves us weeks.

Construction expertise. Planning, tendering, site supervision: people with building experience, ideally with experience in West Africa, are especially valuable for this project.

Contacts. To parishes, schools, clubs, foundations or local newsrooms. An introduction to the right people is often worth more than a donation.

You do not have to commit to a fixed workload. Just write and tell us what you can do and how much time is realistic, and we will get back to you.
