Building together for children

Every donation brings us one step closer to the children's development campus. The first construction phase is starting now!

Take action now

Note: Donations are processed securely via betterplace.org, Germany’s largest donation platform.

Project donation

Your donation will be used flexibly within the current construction phase, wherever it is needed most. You can choose the donation amount individually.

Donation form

Opening the form loads the donation service of betterplace.org (gut.org gAG); your IP address is transmitted in the process. Details in the privacy policy.

Alternatively by bank transfer

Recipient: Kossivi's HOPE e. V.

IBAN: DE89 4306 0967 1385 9228 00

Bank: GLS Gemeinschaftsbank eG

Payment reference: Donation Kossivi's HOPE

Alternatively, you can use the name of a specific segment as the payment reference (e.g. “Planning”, “Foundation”).

If you need a donation receipt for a donation made by bank transfer, please contact us by email after your payment. We will then need the following details: name, address, bank details, and donation amount.

Two ways

Via betterplace or by bank transfer

Both routes lead to the same project; they differ only in how they work.

Via betterplace.org it is quicker, and you receive the official donation confirmation automatically, whatever the amount. betterplace is Germany's largest donation platform, run by gut.org gAG. Opening the form loads their service, which transmits your IP address; our privacy policy explains exactly what that means.

A bank transfer to our account at GLS Gemeinschaftsbank needs no intermediary. No external service, no data passed on. In return you have to contact us yourself for a receipt, and you can state in the payment reference which construction stage your donation should go towards.

Which route you choose makes no difference to us. Take the one you are more comfortable with.

Use of funds

What happens to your donation

Donations go to the construction of the campus in Agou-Akplolo and nowhere else. Within the current construction phase we use them where they are needed most, unless you explicitly state otherwise in the payment reference.

What association funds may be used for is not at our discretion but written into the statutes. § 3 states: funds may only be used for statutory purposes, members receive no payments out of association funds, and no one may benefit from disproportionately high remuneration. That binding is the reason an association is granted charitable status at all, and it applies regardless of who currently sits on the board.

We are a young association and have only just started building. So we say it plainly: we do not yet publish annual accounts, because no financial year has been completed. What we do disclose are the statutes and the tax office's notice of charitable status under § 60a of the German Fiscal Code. Both can be downloaded from the transparency page, and both are more than many organisations show without being asked.

Tax

Donation receipts and your tax return

In Germany, donations to a charitable association can be deducted as special expenses under § 10b of the Income Tax Act, up to twenty per cent of your total income. For most people that ceiling has no practical relevance; it only matters for very large amounts.

Up to 300 euros you do not need a donation receipt at all. For the simplified proof of donation, your bank statement or booking confirmation is enough (§ 50 (4) of the Income Tax Implementation Ordinance). If you donate via betterplace.org you receive confirmation automatically anyway, whatever the amount.

If you donated by bank transfer and need a receipt, send us an email after the payment. We need your name, address, bank details and the amount. Without an address we are not allowed to issue a confirmation of donation; that is a legal requirement, not curiosity.

One thing we cannot do is give you tax advice. For larger amounts or unusual cases, your tax office or an accountant is the right place to ask.

Give regularly

One-off or regular

Both help, but they help differently. A one-off donation moves us forward concretely in the current construction phase. A regular donation makes something else possible: planning.

A building project is hard to divide into stages when nobody knows what will be available next quarter. Giving monthly, even a small amount, turns hope into a figure you can plan with. The simplest way is a standing order from your bank to the association's account.

If you would like to support the project beyond money, there is supporting membership. What it means and how it works is described on the Get involved page.

About supporting membership

Your donation is tax-deductible.

We will of course provide you with a donation receipt (official confirmation of donation) on request through our partner Betterplace, regardless of the donation amount. All donations are earmarked for the construction and implementation of the children's development campus in Togo. Kossivi's HOPE e. V. is committed to responsible, economical, and transparent use of all funds provided. The use of donations is exclusively in accordance with the statutory objectives of the association. The project is implemented step by step and sustainably, in close cooperation with the local community on site.
